September

Some will say this is the best month of the year, and I  agree with that.  This month will see fish grabbing all food in sight as they fatten for the winter ahead.   Bass fishing over the wrecks will see some quality fish hitting the headlines, double figure fish will not be a rare occasion.  Top baits will be small mackerel and scads, Sidewinder lures and Shads.   Black bream will also offer some excellent sport mostly from the shore, the North Coast of Devon a particular hotspot, and Chesel beach is another.  Big conger will also be on the menu both from wrecks and reefs and there will be some good fishing from many shore marks.  Bull Huss as I have said before are now firmly established in the west country with double figure fish regularly caught from boat and shore.  So the month ahead should give you some really sporting moments.  The fish I have mentioned are by no means the only sopecies out there awaiting your baits.  Others include, mullet, ling, pollack, small eyed ray, blonde and spotted ray, plaice, dabs, mackerel, wrasse and garfish.  Make hay while the sun shines.
